Character Development

These are a few of my very first concept sketches.

As you can see i was very unsure about how to draw toddlers and there proportions so i began to work on that, from research. First at face expressions of toddles.

While sketching, i found out that children expression are very strong and expressive. perfice
for animation.
also from looking at there body proportions, and common key fetchers. as shown below

I began dramatizing these key fetchers to make it more chartoony and lovable

This style was also inspired by cute cherubs and old rose cheeked children paintings. The same kind of think you might see in your grans house... kinda like this :
I began to sketch and research other famous and iconic Cartoon children. similar to my original drawings.

The main thing i keept noticing is there very small stumpy hands and large heads.
there big eyes and chubbiness make them look cute and lovable.

This pitcher above is more looking at there body proportions, and common key fetchers.
I showed this to a group of people to get there opinion on what they liked most. Most of them liked number 3 and 4 the best, they thought some there in between the two of them would be perfect. the height of 3 but the hair and face.

I also got some input for more ideas, to try things like glasses or different hair.
I tryd this but i felt it made him feel older than a toddler also not as clumsy as id like him to be.

This is a colour chart to see which appeals most. I also drew expressions as a extra.
I wanted to go with natural look. so i used only natural colours. People said there fave was the second top. so ginger with blue eyes,
This is what i got when i added my feedback in and i was very happy with the results.

Final design and character emotion sheet

hope you like him as much as i do. hes so cute. 0w0
